Serengeti, Tanzania
Grumeti River Camp is renowned for its stylish, vibrantly
African designed tented suites set along the banks of a bywater of
the Grumeti River, offering exceptional crocodile and hippo
viewing. Yoruba beaded antique artefacts adorn the sitting areas
and domed bar. Spacious decks are perfect for sundowners
overlooking the water. Delicious Pan-African cuisine - prepared on
traditional 'jikos' (fires) or in stone ovens - is served in the
boma or open-fronted dining area. Private dinners may be arranged
for any special occasion.
Grumeti River Camp is situated on a bywater of the Grumeti
River, known for its huge crocodiles. These antediluvian reptiles,
ancestors of the dinosaurs, lurk in the river waiting for the great
migration, where thousands upon thousands of wildebeest and zebra,
drawn by ancient behaviour patterns and fresh grazing, must cross
in order to make the great trek from the Serengeti to Kenya's Masai
Mara. The camp is built amongst tall evergreen trees on the water's
edge. The water of the pan is home to families of grunting hippo,
which float amongst the watery carpet of lilies, and the bird life
is varied and prolific. The Western Corridor offers more than just
an annual stop-off point for the migration. Its colourful
topography of hills, rivers and flood plains provides year-round
habitat for many of the Serengeti's species.

comfortable deck furniture both in and outdoors. En suite bathrooms
offer separate w.c.s and alfresco showers open to the sun and
stars.
