Your programme starts and ends in Windhoek on this 13 day combination self-drive and fly-in safari.  It encompasses some of the must see areas of Namibia; Etosha Game Reserve, Onguma Game Reserve, Damaraland, Swakopmund and the NamibRand Nature Reserve.  Highlights are a sundowner drive and an excursion to Sossusvlei during your stay.

Day 1: Windhoek

Arrive at the Windhoek International Airport where a transfer representative will meet you and transfer you to Windhoek, the capital city of Namibia for your first night.

Olive Grove Guest House is a small, up-market accommodation establishment situated close to the Windhoek city centre in a quiet, peaceful area.  There are 3 standard (patio) en-suite rooms, 7 luxury en-suite rooms, 1 executive suite and 1 garden suite. The 3 standard (patio) rooms feature the same interior, furnishings & fittings as the luxury rooms, but are situated closer to the main reception & restaurant area.  They are therefore not as private or as quiet as the other rooms.  The inside lounge is tastefully decorated, with comfortable chairs and a fireplace in front of which to relax. The stunning open plan kitchen creates a homely feel while providing tasty meals.

Day 2: Okonjima

After a relaxed breakfast, you will be picked up by a transfer representative and taken to the car rental offices to collect your rental vehicle.

Continue north to Okonjima Bush Camp for one night. The Bush Camp has 8 thatched African-style chalets and 1 luxury, honeymoon suite (wheel-chair friendly). Each exclusive chalet enjoys complete privacy and is a combination of earthy, ochre walls and khaki-green canvas, under a thatched roof. The Honeymoon Suite boasts a stunning view, a sliding glass door, 2 Queen-size beds, and a comfortable en-suite lounge with fire-place, a bath and outside 'bush' shower. All other chalets have mini-bars, telephone, private safe, a queen-size bed as well as a 3/4 bed and are 80m-100m apart from each other. There is also a secluded pool.  Activities commence 15h00 in winter and 16h00 in summer and include Cheetah tracking on foot and the Cheetah Project; Leopard tracking; Birding; Photography and the Bushmen trail.

Accommodation at Okonjima Bush Camp is on a full board basis and includes activities.

Day 3-4: Etosha National Park

Enjoy your morning activity and brunch before departing towards the eastern side of the Etosha National Park and to Onguma Tented Camp for two nights.

The camp is a beguiling mixture of sophistication and relaxation, of elegance and the earth. In the local Herero language, Onguma means, "the place you don't want to leave." With a stunning main building and seven tents providing private, exclusive accommodation, Onguma Tented Camp, certainly lives up to its name.  An atmosphere of elegant dining prevails, complimented by the daily activities taking place around the watering hole, approximately 60 metres away. The surrounding nature lends itself to long lazy afternoons, spent relaxing on the sofas in the lounge, watching the animals go. And when things heat up, all that is required is a gentle stroll to the rim flow pool. Sit and relax in the flowing waters while enjoying an ice cold cooler. Alternatively if more strenuous activity is required, then relaxing on your patio and reading a good book should provide you with all the exercise you may need.

Onguma also became part of an innovative custodianship project relating to the black rhino. Six black rhino were darted in Etosha National Park and shipped to the reserve. Here they are protected and monitored. More than 300 bird species can be viewed at Onguma. The reserve boasts the biggest breeding colony of white-backed vultures in Namibia. During the summer months Onguma becomes a bird-watchers paradise with thousands of species migrating to wetlands created by the seasonal rains and ephemeral river systems. This part of Namibia has been identified as one of the key bird watching sites in Southern Africa.

Day 5: Etosha National Park 2

Enjoy another full day of game viewing inside the Etosha National Park.

Okaukuejo Camp is located 17 km from the southern entrance of the park, and famous for its flood-lit waterhole, where visitors can observe at close quarters a spectacle of wildlife congregating and interacting.  Accommodation is provided to suit every need, in premier bush chalets overlooking the waterhole; bush chalets and double rooms; or family chalets. Other facilities include a restaurant, bar, shop, swimming pool, kiosk and camping facilities.

Day 6-7: Damaraland

Drive to the heart of Damaraland.  Between the Ugab and Huab Rivers in Southern Damaraland lies a vast and unspoiled wilderness. This area boasts magnificent desert scenery, fascinating geological formations, archaeological sites and a unique variety of desert fauna and flora. It's also the Southernmost roaming ground for the rare black rhino and desert elephant.

Mowani Mountain Camp is characterised by its thatched dome-shaped structures which echo the shape of the granite boulders amongst which they are built. Mowani is taken from the word M'Wane, meaning "Place of God" and it is here, that you will find the true meaning of peace and tranquility. Mowani Mountain Camp nestles amongst the boulders of this beautiful area on a high spot commanding distant views over the ancient landscape. The luxury tented accommodation is built unobtrusively, so as to ensure minimum impact on the natural environment. The stilt-like supports of the tents ensure that very little excavation was needed in order to create this special oasis. The main complex at Mowani consists of a reception, bar, dining room and a lounge which overlooks the waterhole. Accommodation is in 12 luxury East-African-style en-suite safari tents which are spread around the mountain crest. The tents are built on raised wooden platforms, each with its own private veranda and great views of the Aba- Huab Valley.

Day 8: Swakopmund

Continue to the coastal town of Swakopmund and to the Swakopmund Guest House which is situated in the town centre, a mere five-minute walk from the beach and main shopping area.

The guesthouse is privately owned and offers 4 standard rooms, 7 luxury rooms and 1 family suite for guests wanting to indulge in a comfortable stay-over close to the ocean. The spacious rooms are fitted with crisp, white linen sheets. Wallpaper portraying a peaceful view of the ocean adds to the clean and neat atmosphere of the guesthouse. The en-suite bathrooms with soft cream walls are decorated with beach pebbles that give them a unique atmosphere.  Optional activities that can be enjoyed in and around Swakopmund include quad biking, sand boarding, dolphin cruise, camel rides etc, or perhaps a visit to the museum, aquarium or the crystal gallery.

Day 9: Sossusvlei

After a relaxed breakfast and the morning at leisure, drive to the Swakopmund airstrip, drop off your rental vehicle and commence on your light aircraft flight (seat rate) to the Sossusvlei environs (excess luggage will be transferred to Windhoek).  You will be met and transferred from the airstrip to the Desert Homestead Lodge, have a siesta and take part in a sundowner drive offered by the lodge.

The wide grassy valley in which the Desert Homestead Lodge is situated is sheltered by the Nubib, Tsaris and Naukluft Mountains with a view reaching the distant dunes of the Namib Desert in the west. In this exquisite position, the lodge offers simple but stylish accommodation in thatched chalets which were designed with the fragile beauty of this remarkable environment in mind. The Desert Homestead will ensure you an unrivalled respite from the desert extremes. Tranquil surroundings, alfresco dining, delectably fresh farm cuisine, refreshing dips in the pool, stunning sunsets and sunrises are the basic pleasures at the lodge. The final remnants of each day see nature at her most profound.

Day 10-12: NamibRand Nature Reserve

Early morning departure towards the dunes of Sossusvlei. Here you will be able to view and climb some of the highest dunes in the world, some of which measures up to 325 m from its base.

Return to the lodge for lunch after which you will be picked up by a Wolwedans representative for your road transfer to the NamibRand Nature Reserve.  The Wolwedans Dunes Lodge aims at providing a unique experience close to nature, yet without compromising any comfort and style. The entire lodge is constructed on wooden platforms and overlooks the panoramic vistas in the 185 000 NamibRand Reserve in all directions, capturing the desert in an intimate and memorable way.

The building style is a combination of wooden poles and large canvas blinds that open up to the desert beyond. Each of the 9 spacious chalets with en-suite bathrooms as well as the four-bedded family chalet and the exclusive Mountain View Suite lead onto a private veranda and stretches of untouched sand.

Accommodation for three nights at Wolwedans Dunes Lodge is fully Inclusive.

Day 13: Depart

After breakfast you will be transferred to the airstrip for your onward light aircraft flight to the Windhoek Eros Airport, departing at 09h00. Upon arrival at 10h15 at the Eros Airport you will be and transferred to Windhoek International Airport in time for your outbound flight.
