Translated - The Smoke that Thunders - is the local name for the Victoria Falls. The world-famous cascade of water provides the baseline for your journey into colonial sophistication. Its fine spray may be seen like a cloud across the bushveld, throwing rainbows hundreds of feet in the air. On the forested banks of the great Zambezi River, upstream of the mighty cataract where it thunders into the Batoka Gorge, is The Royal Livingstone. In its cool lounges and shaded verandas, you will encounter the elegance and luxury of an earlier, more courteous age.

Guests staying at The Royal Livingstone Hotel have entry to The Victoria Falls Free of Charge.

The Royal Livingstone Hotel comprises 173 spacious en-suite guestrooms, each with its own private veranda, stretched along the river bank.  All guestrooms are luxuriously furnished, with crisp white linen and large comfortable beds to welcome and offer the perfect sanctuary to retire to, after a day spent exploring the mysteries and challenges of this remarkable retreat. Bathrooms feature spacious showers and Victorian style baths, with wildlife pencil sketches adorning the cool ivory-washed walls, reflecting the textures and moods of the Zambezi River.

At the Royal Livingstone you can enjoy leisurely breakfasts or 'alfresco' lunches on the veranda overlooking the hotel lawns and the mighty Zambezi River. Traditional high tea is served daily in the lounge.
For a romantic end to your day, stroll down to the deck for sundowners over the river. Enjoy dinner in the hotel dining room or you can have a romantic, private meal on your balcony.

Livingstone is the adventure capital of the world where a vast array of adrenaline activities are available from bungi jumping, white water rafting, canoeing on the mighty Zambezi amongst the ever present hippos, taking a turn at elephant back riding or perhaps a flip over the mighty falls in a helicopter or micro light.  There is adventure to be had in Jetboat extreme or the gorge swinging, a sedate Tour of the Falls or alternatively indulge in the Romance of a spectacular dinner on board the Royal Livingstone Express Train.
