Day 1-2: Kibale Forest National Park
Today you arrive at Entebbe International Airport, where you will be met for a welcome drink and briefing, and then transferred to your hotel, followed by a drive of approximately 6 hours west to the Kibale Forest National Park. Overnight at Primate Lodge for two nights on a full board basis.
This tropical rainforest is the natural habitat for 12 primate species, and contains the highest primate density of any area on Earth. Here, on a guided forest walk, you may find chimpanzees and Red Colobus Monkeys chattering and swinging through the ancient trees, some of which are 50 to 60 metres (150-180 feet) in height. They provide a majestic canopy for the profusion of life, including 325 bird species. We enjoy morning and afternoon walks.
Day 3-4: Queen Elizabeth National Park
This morning we take a road transfer of approximately 6 hours south to the Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Overnight at Ishasha Wilderness Camp for two nights on a full board basis.
The game densities in Ishasha are high, and this region has reported some of the largest herds of Elephant anywhere in Uganda, as it is the main migration corridor between Uganda and the DRC. There is prolific plains game here, primarily Topi and Uganda Kob, buffalo, hippo and of course elephant.
Day 5-7: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
We enjoy game drives in the park, followed by a transfer to Bwindi (approximately 2 ½ hours).
Overnight for three nights at Buhoma Lodge or Gorilla Forest Camp or Clouds Mountain or Gorilla Camp on a full board basis.
The Mountain Gorillas in Bwindi are part of a worldwide population of just 720 individuals. The gorillas we are allowed to track belong to either one of 6 habituated family groups. For up to five years each, these groups have undergone an extremely delicate process that has gradually brought them to tolerate the presence of humans for a brief period every day and allowed a few privileged visitors to interact with them in the wild.
The time taken to track the gorillas varies enormously, from as little as half an hour to as much as 9 hours before one returns to camp. Once the gorillas are located, our group will be allowed a maximum of one hour with them.
Day 8: Depart
Today we take a private charter flight back to Entebbe and prepare for our departure flight home.
