As the custodians of one of Botswana's very first safari camps, the owners of Xakanaxa Camp (pronounced Ka-ka-na-ka) have gone to extraordinary lengths to preserve its original African bush camp character, whilst always providing guests with every comfort.

Its prime location on the banks of the Khwai River on the Xakanaxa Lagoon in the heart of the Moremi Game Reserve ensures that it is one of the only safari camps which can provide guests with an authentic, year round Okavango Delta land and water safari experience.

The owner, Mr Wolfgang Burre, is one of the founding fathers of Botswana's photographic safaris. Together with the staff of Xakanaxa Camp he has endeavoured to maintain the classic safari charm that makes any journey to Xakanaxa a memorable one. As one of the very first lodges to be established in the Okavango Delta, this small and personal safari camp is still one of the Okavango favourites  due to its superb location, fantastic game viewing, friendly service and authentic safari style.

Big game, big birds, big water - Xakanaxa Camp, one of the Okavango Delta's most authentic safari camps.

The camp has 12 x twin bedded tents which can be arranged as single or double beds.  Each Tent is made of canvas, Meru-style classic luxury safari tents on raised decks with ensuite facilities within tent - shower, hand basin and ablution facilities. There are fans in all guest tents as well as a unique water sprinkler system which aids cooling in the midday heat.  All tents have plug points for charging equipment, soaps, shampoos and insect repellents are supplied in each tent, a hairdryer, gowns, a poncho with hood and warm lining provided in each tent for warmth/protection from rain and a Kist with a lock and key for safekeeping of valuables.

The kitchen is renowned for its traditional safari fare served with a Pan-African touch. Dinner is accompanied by excellent South African wines. Meals are generally taken around the main dining room table where tales of the day's exciting experiences are recounted and discussed in great detail. Guests wishing to dine in private can also be catered for. All meals, snacks, teas, coffees, laundry, soft drinks, local-brand spirits, house wines and beer (premium brands excluded) are included in our nightly rates, as are all safari activities and park entrance fees.

Upon returning to camp three or four hours later, enjoy brunch, including a selection of breakfast and lunch dishes. A siesta is followed by high tea before guests set off again on a safari activity that returns to camp approximately half an hour after sunset.
