Day 01 – Day 04

3 night at Shamwari Game Reserve Long Lee Manor in a luxury twin room on a full board basis, including local brand drinks (excluding personal bar) and two safari activities daily

Long Lee Manor, originally built in 1910, offers a distinctive Colonial experience. This splendidly restored Edwardian Manor House offers guests refined comfort, congenial service and enticing cuisine in the African bush. Long Lee Manor accommodates 38 guests in elegant en-suite rooms, all with air-conditioning and heating, as well as family suites for the children. Sumptuously prepared meals are enjoyed in the main dining room or around the open blazing fire at the Barn. Between game drives guests can laze around one of the two pools, relax in the beautifully appointed garden lounge, or experience a rejuvenating treatment in our spa.

Long Lee Manor is a reminder of an era of gracious living - positioned as the flagship of Shamwari - it overlooks the sweeping plains leading down to the Bushmans River. A river lapa is an outdoor option for meals.

DAY 04 – 07
3 nights at Tsala Treetop Lodge in a suite on a bed and breakfast basis
 
Elevated wooden walkways meander through the trees to ten exclusive and very private suites. Accommodation is in individual luxury suites, each with separate lounge and bedroom, spacious en suite bathroom - with outside shower and private plunge pool. Eastern and European flavours blend with the cultures of Africa to reflect the tastes, rhythms and colours of the hand crafted fittings and superb cuisine. A main lodge with a magnificent foyer featuring polished blackwood columns; Cosy lounge with views of the forest and valley; Large open suspended decks for dining and sunset viewing; Library featuring reference books on the area; Elevated boardwalks allowing movement between the main lodge and suites, high in the forest canopy; Superb, imaginative cuisine, reflecting the diversity of South African cultures; Cellar stocked with the best South African wines; Fax, Internet and e-mail facilities.

DAY 07 - 10
3 night at Grootbos Nature Reserve Garden Lodge in a twin cottage on a full board basis including welcome drink, daily fruit basket, 4x4 drives, guided walks, horse riding and land based whale watching in season

Grootbos Private Nature Reserve lies only 1 hour and 45 minutes from Cape Town, hidden high above the famous Walker Bay, referred to as the ‘Bay of Whales’.

The lodge is set among 17 square kilometres of pristine fynbos, with over 650 indigenous plant and over 50 Red Data species, the largest private fynbos garden and one of the largest Milkwood forests in the world! Stylish 5 star luxury suites, African cuisine, warm hospitality and nature based tourism activities pamper guest’s expectations. Eleven spacious suites, set amongst indigenous gardens with magnificent panoramic views of Walker Bay, provide tranquillity and supreme comfort. Rich textures, space and light, finest bedding, spacious sunny bathrooms with under floor heating, outdoor showers, separate living rooms with cosy fireplaces, mini-bars and secluded spacious wooden decks from which one can admire the sunsets over the ocean or start the day in tune with the forest birds are standard features.

The main lodges includes the restaurant, bar, outdoor pool, terrace, lounge, information centre and gift shop where our friendly and professional staff welcome guests and introduce one to the many activities on offer at Grootbos.  Highly skilled field guides with intimate knowledge of the history, fauna and flora host the diverse activities. Coastal marine walks, visits to one of the world’s most renowned, archaeological middle-stone age sites, the famous Klipgat Cave and horse riding are just a few of the diverse activities which are offered to guests at Grootbos on a tailor made basis. Drives to the nearby coast in the afternoons for champagne sundowners, a highlight of land-based whale watching viewing the 40-ton mammals as close as 30m from the rocky cliffs, leave guests marvelling at the sheer gentleness of the ocean giants!

Additional activities (at extra cost) include the boat-based whale watching and a boat trip to Dyer Island, Africa’s most sensitive bird island, where you can view Penguins, the Cape Fur Seal colony of 60 000 and if one is lucky the elusive Great White Shark.

DAY 10 - 14
4 nights at Kensington Place in a standard twin room on a bed and breakfast basis

Kensington Place is a luxurious boutique hotel set on the slopes of Table Mountain in one of Cape Town's prime residential areas. Its eight individually-designed bedrooms are a striking blend of contemporary European decor and African art and textiles. Throughout, earthy tones and natural textures have been used successfully to create an understated elegance. Lush quiet gardens and an intimate pool surround the property. The interiors have an unmistakable contemporary feel with eclectic African touches throughout. 

The central location makes it an ideal base for forays to historical sites, vineyards, nature reserves and beaches. After a day out, return for a dip in the plunge pool. Then retreat to your private terrace to enjoy wonderful views of the city, harbour and mountains and contemplate your dinner venue - trendy Kloof Street is just a stroll away. Exceptionally well run, the service at Kensington Place is professional and personal. Staff will happily offer to run errands or rustle up a midnight sandwich for a hungry guest.
