10 Nights, 11 days – Lion Sands River Lodge / Jock Safari Lodge / Steenberg Hotel / The Franschhoek

Once we have your flights booked, you are able to choose from one of two possibilities, road transfers between all properties or road transfers to and from Lion Sands and Jock Safari Lodge followed by a rental car for your Cape Town and Franschhoek portion
Day 01 – Day 04
3 nights at Lions Sands River Lodge in a twin suite on a full board basis including drinks on activities, two activities daily
Lion Sands is situated in the southern portion of the Sabi Sand Game Reserve. The southern boundary is shared with the Kruger National Park along 10.5km of Sabie River frontage with wildlife moving freely across the river, between the two reserves.
Lion Sands has exclusive access to this river frontage which, apart from being home to hippo, is very beautiful and offers a slight respite from the summer heat. One of two lodges in the Lion Sands Game Reserve, River Lodge has 18 semi detached suites - nine each side of the main lodge. Each suite is equipped with mosquito net, air conditioning, over head fan, electronic safe, hairdryer, tea/coffee making facilities and mini bar. The en suite bathroom has a bath, his/her vanity unit, indoor and out door shower. There is a small deck with river view.
Activities are extensive and include morning and afternoon game drives in open vehicles seating eight guests per vehicle, bush walks, a hippo tour, astronomy, full moon walks, wildlife lectures every alternate day, bush breakfasts and dinners. During the winter months guests may opt to have a picnic lunch at one of the hides.
Day 04 – 06
2 nights at Jock Safari Lodge in a twin suite on a full board basis including local brand drinks (excludes private bar), teas/coffees and two safari activities daily. Excludes Kruger National Park entrance fees
Situated in a 6000 hectare private concession within the southern part of the Kruger National Park the romance and elegance of the past live on at Jock Safari Lodge. The theme is set by Sir Percy Fitzpatrick’s animal classic “Jock of the Bushveld”, a story written at the time of South Africa’s first gold rush.
Surrounded by magnificent trees and an abundance of bird life are twelve luxury air conditioned suites, each with their own private sala overlooking the confluence of the Mitomeni and Biyamati rivers. A plunge pool, romantic outdoor shower, bathroom with his & her vanity unit, mosquito net, mini bar, electronic safe, tea and coffee making facilities are all standard features.
Reflecting the glamour of colonial excess tempered by the distinctive personality of local Zulu and Shangaan cultures the central guest areas consist of a fully equipped spa aptly named “Pilgrims Rest”, a small swimming pool, upstairs bar, relaxing lounge and terrace areas, library, internet room, boma and a shaded breakfast deck.
DAY 06 - 08
2 nights at Steenberg Hotel in a luxury standard twin room on a bed and breakfast basis. The Steenberg Hotel offers a complimentary transfer to the V&A Waterfront, departing Steenberg at 10.00 and returning at 15.30, as well as to restaurants and shops within a 5 km radius of the hotel.
The 5 star graded Steenberg Hotel & Winery is situated on the Cape’s oldest wine farm, a mere twenty-minute drive from the bustling heart of Cape Town. The hotel nestles in the tranquil Constantia Valley, against the slopes of the Steenberg Mountain, offering sweeping views over False Bay. The hotel buildings, dating back to 1682, were painstakingly restored and have been declared a National Monument. Here the legendary elegance and traditions of the 17th century blend harmoniously with the most refined luxuries and conveniences of our modern age. The estate boasts its own world renowned, working winery, which produces a selection of award winning fine wines. Guided tours, lunches on the terrace and wine tasting are available on request. For the keen golfer, an 18 hole, championship golf course also forms part of this prestigious estate. The original winery provides the setting for the Restaurant at Steenberg. European style décor incorporates all the historical architectural features of the old winery.
Day 08 – 11
3 nights at The Franschhoek in a superior double room on a bed and breakfast basis
The Franschhoek is a historic residence in the center of this charming and picturesque village in the Cape Winelands. Elegantly restored in the Cape Huguenot tradition, “The Franschhoek” is right in the heart of what has become the utopia for food and wine lovers in the Cape. You’ll find little need for a car, since you’re only a few minutes walk away from every character-filled, quaint boutique-style shop you can imagine, amongst a myriad of excellent restaurants. These include those recently voted amongst the ten finest restaurants in South Africa.
Six luxurious en-suite Superior Double Rooms, each have their own traditional Cape charm and open onto a private patio with small shaded garden for extra luxury and comfort. Children over 12 welcome. Average room including bathroom size 35m² - (including room, bathroom and private patio) - 68m².
