Mara Plains Camp is located on the 35,000 acre Olare Motorogi Conservancy on a bend in the Ntiakitak River, with the Masai Mara National Reserve to its south. Upon arriving at the camp you walk across a bridge over the river and up a small slope to giant steps, to be greeted by breathtaking views of the endless horizon, with one single, flat-topped tree right in your line of site. A small detail which creates an instant impact on your arrival to the camp.
Mara Plains Camp offers some of the best game viewing in all of Africa. Game drives leave early in the morning, late afternoon and night drives with spotlights are available. For a unique view of the Masai Mara ballooning safaris are also available but should be booked in advance.
Mara Plains minimises its impact on the sensitive environment that surrounds it by having constructed a camp free of any cement, making it entirely possible to move the camp without leaving a trace.
All of the structures in the camp are raised on decks, utilising innovative building techniques and limiting the damage caused to the covered surface area. Water is bottled at the Loita Spring and filtered 100% chemical free with solar energy used throughout the camp.
The Conservancy is leased from the local Masai community and conservation fees generated support more than 1,000 local families, a partnership which ensures the survival of an abundance of wildlife.
