Botswana Family Safari

A nine-day Botswana circuit built for families of four. Three camps across contrasting habitats: Khwai's game-rich floodplains, the Okavango Panhandle's water world, and the elephant country around Savuti in Chobe National Park.

   Arrival & Fly to Khwai

   Your safari begins with a journey from Johannesburg via Maun, taking you deep into Botswana's wilderness. You'll arrive at Nokanyana, your home for the next few days, by late afternoon.

   • Fly from Johannesburg to Maun.
   • Transfer by light aircraft from Maun to Khwai.
   • Check into Nokanyana, situated on the Khwai River.

   Day 2

   Khwai Safari

   Mababe · Nokanyana

   You wake to the sounds of the African bush and anticipate a thrilling day of wildlife encounters. The Khwai region offers a rich mosaic of habitats, promising exceptional game viewing.

   • Enjoy a morning game drive in the Mababe Depression, searching for predators and plains game.
   • Return to Nokanyana for lunch and some relaxation.
   • Opt for an afternoon game drive or a guided bush walk with your ranger.
   • Experience sundowners in a scenic spot before returning for dinner at the lodge.

   Day 3

   Khwai Safari

   Mababe · Nokanyana

   Today offers a choice of two unique excursions from your base at Nokanyana. You determine how best to experience the Delta's offerings or its surrounding communities.

   • You have the option of a mokoro trip on the Delta.
   • Alternatively, you can choose a village visit accompanied by a local guide.

   Day 4

   Fly to the Panhandle

   Okavango Panhandle · Mopiri

   You wake to a final sunrise over the Khwai floodplains. After a leisurely breakfast, you prepare for your journey to a new watery wilderness.

   • You board a light aircraft for a short charter flight west, into the Okavango Panhandle.
   • Transfer to Mopiri.
   • Settle into your tented room, set on boardwalks along the papyrus-fringed Weboro Lagoon, and enjoy panoramic water views.
   • Your afternoon activity will be boat-focused, exploring the Panhandle's unique waterways.
   • Dinner at the lodge (fully inclusive).

   Day 5

   Delta by Boat & Mokoro

   Okavango Panhandle · Mopiri

   The Okavango Panhandle beckons with a full day of aquatic exploration. You delve deeper into the Delta, transitioning from motorised craft to traditional mokoro, experiencing its waterways intimately.

   • You board a boat after breakfast, venturing into the Delta's heart.
   • Transfer to a mokoro for island hopping and further water explorations.
   • Enjoy a guided bush walk on one of the Delta's islands.
   • Indulge in lunch amidst the wilderness.
   • Try your hand at fishing during the afternoon.
   • Return to Mopiri in the late afternoon.

   Fly to Savuti

   Savuti - Chobe NP · Ghoha Hills Savuti Lodge

   You rise early this morning, anticipating a change of scenery. A light aircraft awaits to whisk you across the delta and into the renowned Chobe National Park.

   • This morning, you catch a charter flight east to Savuti.
   • Upon arrival, you are transferred to Ghoha Hills Savuti Lodge.
   • The rest of your day is at leisure, enjoying the lodge's panoramic views over the Savuti plains, known for their large elephant populations.

   Departure

   You enjoy your final breakfast in the bush, reflecting on your incredible safari. The staff bids you a fond farewell as you prepare for your journey home.
